Walt Disney Pictures President Sean Bailey spoke about plans for the Lion King franchise in an interview with The New York Times.
The director noted that the prequel to Mufasa: The Lion King would be the first in a series of films. Disney will expand this universe once the writers find suitable stories. Bailey stated that the franchise has the potential to become similar to Star Wars.
The prequel to Mufasa: The Lion King will be released in 2024. The story will tell about the formation of Simba’s father and his conflict with Scar. Disney began working on the film after the release of the remake of The Lion King in 2019. Then the tape collected 1.7 billion dollars at the box office.
Earlier, Diablo IV producer Rod Fergusson spoke in an interview with Kinda Funny Games about two upcoming story additions for the title.
