A file recently shared on GTAForums contained the largest game leak in history. The file in question contained in-game videos shot during the GTA 6 development process, which Rockstar is developing. GTA 6 appeared live for the first time.
In-game videos showed the moments during GTA 6’s early development, when various mechanics of the game were tested. While Rockstar Games started removing content with the leak one by one after the images were shared, they eventually shared a statement. The company has officially confirmed the leak.
“Message from Rockstar Games
We recently experienced a network attack where an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto. At this time, we do not expect any disruption to our live game services or any long-term impact on the development of our ongoing projects.
We are very disappointed to be sharing details of our next game with you in this way. Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game continues as planned, and we are as committed as ever to providing you, our players, with an experience that truly exceeds your expectations. We’ll let everyone know again soon, and of course we’ll introduce you to this next game when it’s ready. In this case, we would like to thank everyone for their continued support.”
