Apex Legends goes cross-play next week, the first trailer for the Borat sequel is out, Season 2 of Fall Guys will let you earn crowns faster, and new gameplay is coming from Amnesia: Rebirth. This and more in the Night Watch!
It’s Friday, the Watch’s favorite day! Because he’s so looking forward to the weekend and hasn’t written Nachtwacht in a long time, he throws in a nice song from the new Deftones album that was officially released last Friday! And then of course continue with the game news. Have a nice weekend!
Crossplay is coming to Apex Legends on October 6th
Cross-play will be added to Apex Legends starting October 6, developer Respawn Entertainment announced in a new blog post. From then on, players can play together on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Matchmaking throws console players together and keeps PC players apart – they’re often a bit faster with a mouse and keyboard, of course – but if you go into a party as a console player with a PC player, you can still end up in PC matches. A good solution!
By the way, crossplay can also be disabled if you have a good reason. On October 6th, Aftermarket is also launching a new collection event with lots of new content, including a limited mode called Flashpoint.
Are you still playing the popular Battle Royale game? And… where is the promised Switch version anyway?
Tencent invests in developers of GTFO
The giant Chinese technology company Tencent has bought many shares of 10 Chambers Collective, developers of horror game GTFO. The investment aims to give 10 Chambers “creative freedom to reach new heights,” says Ulf Andersson, the studio’s creative director.
10 Chambers Collective was founded in 2015 by nine veteran game developers who worked on the Payday games. They released GTFO. In this co-op horror game, four players must complete all the challenges and levels in an underground complex called Rundown. New overviews will be added to the game from time to time so that release content can be experienced regularly.
The developer is working on a new GTFO update with new enemies and locations. It’s unknown if the studio has anything else in the works, but with Tencent’s investment, we can expect even more from the developer.
Season 2 of Fall Guys makes unlocking crowns easier
Well and good, this Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, but crowns can be quite difficult to unlock. You have to get there first – which is quite difficult – and as you unlock some of the season’s levels, you’ll unlock them as well. Which is pretty frustrating because crowns can be used to buy really cool cosmetic items!
Developer Mediatonic has heard the feedback and will do something about it. In the second season, according to the studio, it should be much easier to earn crowns. “We added about 600 percent more crowns to seasonal rewards in Season 2.” Nice! In another tweet, the company said it has developed a new method to reward the most competitive Fall Guys players. What this means exactly is not yet known. The company also hints at something about “name tags.”
Fall Guys Season 2 begins October 6. Then new minigames await you. The game also gets a new theme based on the Middle Ages.

Three Yakuza games are free to play for Xbox Live Gold members
If you have an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription and fancy a game of Yakuza, you’re in luck. People with one of these subscriptions can start Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 for free. Kiwami and Kiwami 2 are remakes of the first two games, so perfect to follow the story a bit. You can play the three games for free until October 4th.
Of course, it’s the perfect advertisement for Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the seventh main installment in the open-world series, which releases on November 10 on Xbox Series X, Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The PS5 version will be available in March next year.
The award-winning platformer Horace is coming to the Switch
Released on Steam last year, the critically acclaimed platformer Horace is coming to the Switch eShop on October 21st. It was announced by publisher 505 Games and developers Paul Helman and Sean Scaplehorn. Plus, if you pre-order the game, you’ll get a 10 percent discount.
Horace revolves around a small robot who learns about life through various platforming challenges. With its simple design, the game is surprisingly emotional and therefore attracted a lot of attention when it was released. Developed by just two people – the aforementioned gentlemen – the game features over fifteen hours of platforming action.
The first trailer for the Borat sequel is here
Suddenly there were reports that the genius filmmaker and actor Sacha Baron Cohen was working on a sequel to the hilarious film Borat. Meanwhile, Borat: Subsequent Movie Movie (apparently renamed Borat: Gift of Pornographic Monkey to Vice Premiere Mikhael Pence to Make Benefit Recently Diminished Nation of Kazakhstan) is official, and the first trailer has also been released.
Cohen takes on the role of the Kazakh journalist whose ignorance and silly comments miraculously dispel more silly comments from dead-serious Americans. The film can be seen directly on Amazon Prime from October 23 – just before the presidential election.
Amnesia: Rebirth Game Released
Over at IGN, they released a gameplay video of Amnesia: Rebirth that features five minutes of gameplay from the upcoming game. Puzzles are solved and of course it’s quite scary.
Rebirth revolves around a new protagonist, Tasi Trianon, who tries to gather her past in a desolate landscape in the Algerian desert. The game comes out ten years after Frictional Games’ previous installment, Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Meanwhile, developer Frictional Games created another horror game, Soma, and the indirect sequel to The Chinese Room, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.
Amnesia: Rebirth is out on October 20th for PC and PlayStation 4, so don’t wait any longer!
